The Finished Product!

Today, we were all informed by Paige that she had finished the video and putting it together. We were all really pleased with it and the hard work that we've all put in really does shine through.

I believe that it really does it's job well and would appeal to our target demographic. We chose to use a recent and modern song that prospective students would recognise. So we went with LMFAO's 'I'm Sexy and I Know It'. The song also has a 'feel good' element. Something that we believe would be of paramount importance for our 3 minute clip.
I believe that we have made a really good clip that serves it's purpose and fills the criteria of the brief. I think that we all tried our hardest and each and every one of us completed our group role.

How we are progressing so far...

On our second meeting with Justine, It was pretty clear that all the hard work we are doing is coming together to create a really solid piece of work. Paige has been working really hard taking hundreds of photos to create a decent stop motion.

During the meeting with Justine, Paige had shown her all the work she had done with the photographs and that they were impressive. We had our concerns that the 3 minute mark may not be met, due to how long we had to complete the project and how time consuming taking the photographs was. Justine had alliterated to us, that due to the fact that stop motion is a lengthy process and is quite complex that we did not have to reach 3 minutes.

I believe that everyone in the group so far has worked really well together and that everyone has pulled their weight in order to create a really good piece of work.

Research: A Run Down

In order to put the project in to perspective, I thought it would be good to give you all a list of some of the sources that I looked at for the research for the video. Obviously, there is a lot of research and not all of it made it in to the video. However, it is better to have to much, than too little. Right?

Articles:

The Above video can be used in reference to how they put the information across to students. This one is specifically about the loan increase and was created at the University of Bournemouth. It’s cartoonised and has no music over the top. Only sound effects.

Our First Meeting with Justine

Our first meeting with Justine was really to outline the research I have done previously. I also outlined where I wanted to go next with my research, as I believed that I could still continue on with research during the storyboard and scripting process. Something of which that I could pass on to Jade continuously over the next couple of days and share on the Facebook page for easy access.

We told Justine our idea and how we would go about it. She seemed extremely pleased with our plan and said that it is time consuming but with the effort that we were displaying, that it wouldn't prove a problem. She did make a recommendation, after seeing our timetable, that the filming should be moved up, even if just by a day. As stop motion is quite time consuming.

We all took the information on board and from both sides, I think we are pleased with how the project is progressing.

A good way to keep up-to-date and in contact...

As a group, we decided to keep in contact with each other by utilising the group aspect of Facebook. In using social media, we are able to stay in contact in an easier way and arrange meetings more quickly and more efficiently. The document section to the site will also allow us to be able to share our documents and ideas via the same group that we communicate in. Meaning that all the ideas and dates/times etc are all in one, easily accessible place.
In addition to this, we are also contacting each other via the college email and through text, this way we are in constant contact.

Research: Information Palooza

I have truly collated and gathered a lot of extremely useful and worthwhile information. One of my first main focuses was to find videos that could aid the creation of our own. How they were made and why they have been chosen to persuade students that University is a worthwhile choice. (See the below video)

.

The video was created at Bournemouth University and features on this website. Meaning that the sources provided within the video would be useful. I also looked at other videos, such as other stop motions to get an idea of the sort of look that we wanted to created. (See the second video).

So after looking at videos such as the aforementioned, I then went on to look at sites that I believed students themselves would go on and once understand what the students look for information wise and what engages them I could then be able to understand what information would better the video and fit more with our target demographic.
I looked on the obvious sites, such as UCAS and Direct Gov but then I also started looking on sites that were created to entertain students and provide students with other information that they cared about (other than the financial issues). This led me to sites such as Push and Student 365. The house style of these websites would also lend some ideas to production and content creation about how to make the video look and fit in with the style that these websites encompass.

Our Dates and Times: Meetings and Deadlines Galore

As you can see below, these are the mutually agreed dates between me and my group. Becky has drawn up a timetable for each of us. At some point, I hope to scan in this timetable to give you an idea of how organised she was. It is colour coded giving an easy and clear idea of what person should complete what and when by.
